This past June/July my beloved cat, Willa Bean, had a fast decline due to assumed cancer. I was so so anxious and scared and frantically looking for other, more comfortable, end-of-life care options than a clinical vet practice setting. I had reached out to Heart of Vermont, who quickly and kindly answered my (many) questions. Dr. Bruner was available on such short notice when we had to go through with our euthanasia plans. When it was time Dr. Bruner gave me so much space and patience, I truly could not thank her enough. Her care and compassion is unmatched and I am so glad that in such a difficult moment my cat could be at home and given anything and everything she needed.
When Dr. Erika Bruner arrived at my door, she humbly acknowledged the discomfort of a stranger coming into my home to see off my sweet kitty, Bug. However, from our first phone call to after Bug was put to rest, Erika never once felt like a stranger to me. She was graceful, compassionate and friendly, and treated me and Bug with such respect. Bug was so comfy in his little bed at home instead of at the stressful vet office. Erika gave me all the time and conservation I needed, and even helped me paint and stamp Bug's little paws after he was gone (in addition to the clay paw prints included in the visit). She coordinated to meet me to drop off his ashes in a spot convenient to me, which was super helpful during the busy holiday week. I didn't share this at the time, but Bug's passing came on the wake of several family tragedies, and I appreciated the opportunity to chat about Bug's death with another person who was so familiar and comfortable with it. I hope I don't need Erika's services again soon, but would highly recommend her for anyone in need. Thank you!
Our beloved cat was failing quickly, and our regular vet was short-staffed and could not come out for several days. We called Heart of Vermont and not only were their staff so sympathetic and understanding on the phone, they also managed to get us scheduled for the next morning. Dr. Erika did such a nice job letting us know what she was going to do and what to expect. After, upon our request, she curled up our cat for us so she looked like she was just sleeping. If you need end-of-life care for your pet, do not hesitate to contact Heart of Vermont. You will be sad about many, many things when your pet departs, but you will not be sad about calling them and the care they will give you and your pet.
Erika came to our house and helped us with the very difficult task of saying goodbye to our best friend. She was very patient and explained everything to us and made tge process as easy as possible. I was a complete wreck and it was obvious I wasn't doing good, a couple days after she was here I received a sympathy card in the mail. It's not just a job to her, she cares about the animals and the praople and makes the worse day of your life a little bit easier with her actions.
We can not thank Dr. Erika Bruner enough for making an absolutely heart crushing decision, that had to be made for my son's best friend of 13 years, as peaceful, passionate and comforting as it could possibly be. Your tenderness and making sure that Diesel, Tim Sprague, Jasmyn Sprague my husband and myself were well informed and able to process in our own time without being rushed or judged is appreciated more than you know. Thank you so much for all you do for the furbaby family member as well as the humans!!! 💞
