Amazing and kind people. My rabbit ingested half an antidepressant pill and when i brought her in & said it was an emergency, they immediately examined her and gave me the number for pet poison to get a claim number. They were compassionate and caring through the entire process while i was trying my hardest not to break down sobbing. Considering how busy the place was, the doctor did amazing getting to us in a timely manner and the nurses went out of their way to make me comfortable. They treated my rabbit with so much love and acted quickly to where no damage was done and she’s perfectly fine the next day. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to remember any names as i was in a panic; but from the front desk workers, to the vet techs, to the vet herself, I felt we were taken care of and treated kindly by all. I recommend this vet for your rabbit emergency needs :) i know i’ll def come back if i need something else. thank you so much to this whole staff. also here’s lil pudding after i got her home! her fur is a lil discolored because she was given her activated charcoal to combat the medicine.
I made two very important mistakes with this clinic. The first mistake was not listening to my gut about the doctor. I told her what my dog had ingested, and he had already had worms in his stool a month before. Also, we had been camping for several years and the exposures he had. I told her that the last panacure treatment he received was incomplete, and he didn't get a second dose. I was sure that because of shedding cycles, it would be hard to find a stool sample that was positive. She didn't want to hear any of that. She insisted it was not an infection. Dr. Buerkle, aloof and condescending the entire time she was in the exam room with us. She looked down her nose at me, and she scolded me for using online vet resources for help at home with my dog. She said i should be taking that info "with a grain of salt" and that it was HER that we should be listening to. I shared all the symptoms and issues , even gave pictures, and this doctor would not properly treat my dog's bowel. He had a chronic issue with worms and i knew he had an infection in his gut, she just kept padding the bill with a bunch of crap...expensive food, bland diet, powders and pills, probiotics, gabapentin, paste, etc. all amounting to 900 dollars. then she's pushing pain meds even though my dog is showing NO signs of pain at all. Then she's adding meds for anxiety, which just caused him more bowel distress. My poor dog was getting dehydrated from long-standing diarrhea, so i requested fluids and some flagyl. That was all. My dog got neither, and she argued with me about a $140 cerenia injection for naseau as I insisted that it was fine to give a $13 dollar pill instead. Thank God for the tech. , her name was Cam. She was super helpful and kind and was the one who got us the pill dose and was trying to save us money. Cam and the front desk staff were really nice and efficient at their jobs. But the doctor, It was all money. She even suggested i get a 'Go fund me' page to pay her vet bills. She never petted my dog , didn't build rapport with us, and didn't crack a smile. I felt harshly judged and disliked by Dr. B., and my beloved dog was so sick at this point in time. Second mistake was bloodwork. I took her word when she called with lab results. I should have reviewed it myself. I took my dog here the first week of July, and four weeks later his infection caught up to him, and he passed away. Only one month after being told my dog had No infection , we had to let him go. He died with bright green and yellow coming from his behind, she said there was no infection. After review of the labs with another doctor we found that his neutrophil and his white blood cell count were both elevated, WBC was above the high range. Dr. B had said that "no infections were found," and " i dont really have any answers for you." Nobody from the clinic ever called to follow up on us. And that was my time with VCA Palmetto. I would recommend that before making a medical director out of a doctor, you make sure they have been practicing medicine for more than a handful of years. Two thumbs down and 1 love lost. Would never go back.
I was referred to VCA Palmetto by my dogs vets. Whiskey a Dachshund who is a very active hunter breed had sudden inability to walk, pain seizures with body trembling and difficulty breathing. Dr Bishop diagnosed him with great care, she ruled out neurological disease but found locked up back muscles and started a pain management treatment for a week. Whiskey improved while meds were active any lapse led to original issue. Upon return Dr. Bishop discovered an issue at C4 now that his muscles were not rigid. She began acupuncture before a surgery option and he has improved greatly in one day. Future acupuncture is believed to cure his issue. The entire staff is helpful and I recommend this hospital.
We brought our very sick cat there for an emergency visit and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Our cat had a very high fever and probably wouldn’t had made more than a couple more days without treatment. The doctor figured out what was wrong with Loki and after receiving medication he was back to himself within a couple days. I couldn’t get him in anywhere else on short notice on a Sunday. We are very thankful they were open with last minute emergency appointments. They treated Loki like family.
OUTSTANDING, Dr. Vivian & Staff are the absolute best of the best - acupuncture has rejuvenated our Gracie!
