I had to give it one star because it doesn’t allow you to give zero! 5 star crooks My daughter and I had a very negative experience at this place last Wednesday would have been January 16. Unfortunately, her dog was hit by a car and we had to rush her there it was 730 at night. The staff was pleasant at greeting us took our dog into the back right away, but then started with the demanding of money. Obviously, we paid a $750 deposit upon walking in the door just for the dog to go into the back. And that was not a huge deal. I totally expected that but when we finally talked to somebody about an hour and a half later, we were shocked within an $11,000 bill for a 48 hour stay. Of course I would have had no problem paying that bill but they demanded it on site at this point it’s almost 10 PM. I offered to pay half and I would bring the other half in the next day., they refused that and said unfortunately, their policy is to collect payment in full that night on the spot so I asked what a 24 hour stay would be? The nurse came back into the room about a half an hour later and said it would be close to $8000 for 24 hours. And again that was utterly ridiculous amount of money to be demanded on the spot so I requested that I would pay half of that to get the treatment started, and I would be in in the morning with the cash for the balance. And again that was not OK with them they told me that they would prep our dog and send her home with us and we can bring her back when we have the money! Like really !! Now they’re giving us this cost without even doing any imaging at this point they wanted this payment before they would even do imaging to see how bad she really was hurt from the car. The one nurse proceeded to tell us about her own experience and how she had to put $40,000 into her dog last year. Well, good for you Miss nurse. I’m glad you can flex $40,000 on your dog that was totally inappropriate conversation to have with my daughter who was hysterically, crying and upset because her baby was laying there broken on the stretcher. She was only four years old and very healthy and active before this incident . In the end, we had no choice but to have our baby euthanized and of course they wanted paid for that upfront as well so walking out of that door that night we had already spent $2000. The sad part about it is not the money families will pay whatever they can to get their loved pets taken care of but the way they treat people you feel belittled you feel like dirt you feel completely helpless when you do not have thousands and thousands of dollars on the spot to pay these bills Especially towards the middle of the night. And unfortunately, there are many families that have had to do the exact same thing because they do not have that amount of money on the spot for these people! I can promise you Greenacres this is not over. I’ve already contacted an attorney and this has got to end. We go back to pick up her ashes and the box that she was returned to us and looks used and abused. It is a complete disgrace.. but it was nice to see three newer Mercedes-Benz parked out in the doctors parking area. I’m glad somebody’s doing well at our expenses.. we all understand that a business is there to make money. Nobody would be doing it if you were not making money but the way you people treat people is not right it’s disgusting. It’s pitiful and it needs to change and it will be changing soon. I promise.
Me and my dad went here on an emergency visit when my best friend, Tucker, was throwing up after he ingested anything, even just water. He wasn’t his usual lively self and I worked myself up into a frenzy, terrified for my boy. When my dad got home after working 16 hours I cried and we rushed over to the emergency vet. I was absolutely terrified that he had dog bloat, which is why I was so adamant that we went to the vet. We were given a room to wait in very quickly and given that he was having multiple symptoms of dog bloat I thought he was get seen very fast since it is very fatal and can kill a dog within 3 hours. But we sat in that room, without seeing so much as a receptionist for over 4 hours. I told my dad at that moment “at this point we can leave because if it was dog bloat I would’ve lost my best friend by now.” I was extremely livid. We came in at 10pm and it was now after 1am and we haven’t seen anyone. I went out to ask if the receptionists knew when we would get seen, it was very clear we were forgotten about. Now it was after 2am crawling to 3am and finally a doctor came in, he asked a couple questions about what was going on and left. No one came back until after 3. Around 3:30 he was taken to the back for x-rays as the doctor suspected he had eaten something that got stuck in his intestines. They brought him back out at around 4. Around 4:30 the doctor came back and confirmed that there was something stuck but he couldn’t tell if it was stuck in his intestine or colon, after reviewing more and checking how Tucker was reacting to things, he was certain it was in is colon and told us he would be okay and he would just have to well poop it out, and we would be out shortly. Not too long after that a different vet came in and told us that the object was in his large intestine and he would need a $10k surgery. My dad works 2 jobs so we can get by, we don’t have $10k just laying around, so tearfully we had to decline and we were basically told Tucker would not survive without this surgery. After that the first vet came back in and told us the object was in his SMALL intestine. And that’s when we saw through everything and realized they just wanted more money, and that broke my heart. The object was in his colon. He didn’t need a surgery that would put him in more risk and would cause us to take a second mortgage out on our house. Now don’t get me wrong I was simultaneously ecstatic when we realized their disgusting intentions and realized it was in his colon because that would mean he just needs a long walk. I sat on writing this review for months because the whole situation upsets me and makes me feel sick, but I couldn’t just ignore it, surgery never should’ve been something we would have to consider, we never should’ve had to wait 4 hours to be seen, we never should’ve had to pay over two thousand dollars to be told my best friend was going to die because we couldn’t afford to pay for this $10k surgery. Tucker is doing great now, he’s a happy and healthy boy and just turned seven years old last month, even though we were told he would die because we didn’t put $10k in the pockets of those vets.
I've been exclusively going to Green Acres for 1.5 years ever since I had a scare with my fur baby in the middle of the night and there was no 24hr vet in Rochester. The staff are incredible, the techs and front desk are so friendly and love seeing all the pets who come in. We unfortunately lost one of our fur babies to a sudden sickness and the staff were all incredibly supportive...they did EVERYTHING they could to save her, including running to a nearby human hospital for a vial of something because they didn't have it on hand and wouldn't let that stop them from getting her everything they could. The after-life care was also really touching and personalized, their heartfelt dedication made a terrible situation much more navigable and bearable. What started as one emergency visit has turned into taking both my cats there for their regular checkups, surgeries, and followups because their files are all in one place and the people genuinely love your pets and care for them. I drive from Rochester to Tonawanda every time because it's 100% worth it.
Honestly, I was mildly worried about some reviews I had seen in the past. But so far I've had really great experiences with this place as both a regular vet and an ER service. I brought my lil mocha beans in last night for a suspected uti as she was sick and lethargic. The staff was so kind, they got me in a room, they were gentle with my baby even though she definitely freaks out sometimes when she's being poked and prodded. I just hope she wasn't too much trouble when they took her in back for her testing. The doctor explained her results to me, gave me copies of all of them for my records, sent me home with an antibiotic, and today she definitely seems to be doing better. Now, yes it is expensive, but for the amount of work up they do am they don't cut corners it is reasonable. Heck, this stuff costs a lot more for people, just most of it is covered by insurance. I'm very thankful for their expertise and concern for my kitty 🥰 the only issue I have is the benches in the patient rooms aren't super comfortable, but that's literally it. They show love and compassion to every pet that comes through that door.
Brought my cat here just for a routine checkup. I brought up concerns that his eyes were always crusty and he coughs sometimes. The veterinarian took forever and seemed to not be very knowledgeable. To even test him for anything they tried to charge me almost $400. I declined because I don’t have 400 dollars on top of treatment if there was something wrong with him. They made me sign a form saying I was declining testing. A couple days later my cats eyes were worse I brought his somewhere else where they tested and treated him for $250 dollars. He has Feline herpes which is very common and the vet diagnosed and treated him with antibiotics and eyedrops after only an hour. These people only care about your money! Take your babies somewhere else.
