Having experienced several Vet ERs, this experience has been the best! Dr. Miller and the ER nurse with braids were absolutely excellent. Very caring and the reason both my babies lived and recovered. I brought both my Sphynx and tortieshelle cats in with ivermectin toxicity one came home after two days with his main symptom temporary blindness. He fully recovered within 72hrs. However my other cat was completely comotose for over a week. During that time they worked around the clock making sure they kept her alive with fluids, and maintaining her vitals and temperature. She was unable to eat or use the bathroom on her own let alone blink. I truly feel most vets after the 72 hour mark would’ve given up recommended I put her down or demanded more money, however Dr. Miller was optimistic but honest about her condition and continued to care for her the best she could until it was 10 days without improvement and honestly she’d stayed past our budget. I decided to take her home, Dr. Miller respected that decision installed a tube for feeding, and gave me a bunch of instructions and SQ fluids. My girl came out of her coma 11 days after the day of ivermectin ingestion and is almost completely normal after 2.5 weeks. This is a place that cares. They let me visit my cat everyday! All Vet ERs are extremely expensive . However this place by far the most reasonable and isn’t greedy or all about the money. I also feel like Dr. Miller as busy as she is very communicative she gave us daily updates.

Everyone from the moment we walked in was very kind and helpful. We very much appreciated Dr Miller’s calm compassion and thoroughness. We are so thankful our Riley is back home and recovering! They were also good about informing us about the costs which was very helpful in making decisions about our dog’s care.

It has taken me a while to be ready to type up a review but I feel not submitting would be a disservice to everyone. Apologies for the length review but I think it's necessary. Triggers: Pet loss. If you don't want to read the full thing: Overall impression of Carolina Vet Specialists = amazing, 5 stars (specifically Dr. Andrews-Roberts and Dr. Barr) On April 27th, I took my beloved 13 year old cat into Carolina Vet Specialists. The day before I took him to another vet who told me he had a bladder infection but he was fine, no sign of a blockage. This didn't sit right with me based on how my cat was acting but I decided to trust the process as maybe he just needed the antibiotics to kick in. Sadly, he did not get better and he stopped eating. I sat with him all night, coaxing him to eat/drink, hoping for the best. I realize now in retrospect I should have taken him to Carolina Vet specialists sooner but in that moment I didn't understand the gravity of the situation and I put too much faith in the prior vet's words - a vet that had been our family vet for 15 + years. My mom and I did research and chose CVS with our fingers crossed. I will spare the details but Dr. Andrews-Roberts took care of Willy (my cat) in his final moments and I will be forever grateful. She did everything she could and she was an amazing, compassionate, empathetic doctor. Sadly, my sweet cat passed away under anesthesia but I feel confident she did everything she could do for him and I am thankful he had a somewhat peaceful passing. About one month later, I had to take my other senior cat in for a separate issue and was somewhat traumatized to come back to the same clinic my other cat died at but other vets weren't able to see her for a week and I didn't want to wait. They took amazing care of her and she's currently healthy cuddling with me now. Dr. Barr took amazing care of her and I would highly recommend her. I just wanted to post this because sometimes we fear the unknown. And if this review helps anyone and encourages them to take their sick pet sooner, then crying over my keyboard right now is worth it.

I highly recommend Carolina Vet Specialists for emergency care. We arrived on a Saturday morning with a very sick fur baby and the staff was immediately attentive. The vet who treated our cat was wonderful - she explained the situation, the options, cost, and odds of success, and then she gave us time to make our decision. We never felt pressured. We felt extremely informed and prepared. Our cat made it through the night, which for his situation was pretty incredible. Really impressive level of care. Over the weekend, we visited him several times and we were welcomed and treated very compassionately. We had regular updates on our cat's condition and when it was time to take him home, they made sure we were prepared with instructions and prescriptions and they even emailed us some how-to videos. I can't thank the staff enough. ❤️

I feel like everyone who had a hand in Milo's treatment was very concerned about him. I came in so worried. But I left with hope. A big thank you to everyone.
