Rosie’s monthly visits are always a pleasure. We travel from Greenville SC just to see Dr A! Everyone is so nice and adore little Rosie. Thank you for saving her life! I appreciate their honesty and kindness not giving up on their patients. RosieMay is doing great!

On Jan 2, we took our 11 month old puppy to our vet, suspecting he ingested a foreign body. That was confirmed on x-ray and options included open surgery, or perhaps, find a clinic in the area that could attempt endoscopy first. Our vet, Dr. Morgan Frye of Partners Animal Hospital called SAVES in Asheville and spoke with Dr. Finster who was on duty. She advised us to bring Winston down the road so she could attempt the endoscopy. From the time we walked into the facility until the time we left, we observed warmth, caring and professionalism from the staff. The young woman at the front desk (long hair, glasses and wearing a maxi dress) was there from the time we arrived around 2:30 p.m. until we left at 9:00 p.m. She consistently greeted each person and expertly handled all phone and in person interactions in such a wonderful way, that it is worth mentioning here. All the clinical staff and Dr. Finster, especially were fantastic as well. We thank Dr. Finster, who successfully retrieved a rock from Rascal Winston’s stomach and we were able to go home with our boy after he woke from his anesthesia. We were impressed with the professional rapport evident between the two Animal Hospitals that resulted in sparing this 11 month old from open surgery. Dr. Frye called us the next day to see how all were doing. When I called the SAVES clinic that day to get additional paperwork needed for filing to our pet insurance, the young woman who assisted was efficient and gracious and very happy for the outcome of our visit. Thank you to SAVES.

My one year old shih tzu was treated at SAVES for possible ingestion of one of my medications. Cassie was taken back almost immediately, and Dr. Kelly kept me updated throughout the entire process. My baby girl went home with supportive medications and instructions. The cost was very fair and I highly recommend SAVES to anyone with a pet emergency.

I can not say enough good things about SAVES (South Asheville Veterinary Emergencies & Specialties) on Hendersonville Rd. They took such great care of my daughter's Great Dane Sdaya and were there for Aaliyah anytime she had a question. Sdaya had emergency surgery and was cared for by their team from Sunday until Wednesday of that week. Anytime there was a change in his health they let us know immediately. The staff treated him like we would treat him. They were kind and gentle with him. When Sdaya passed it was so sudden. It was a shock to our core. We were on our way to get him and bring him home and this happened. Such a tragedy. Like a friend said to me "large breeds give love as big as they are but when they're gone the hole they leave in your heart is also giant.." We miss him so much. 😭😭😭 The options that were given to Aaliyah were "community cremation", bring him home and bury him or have him cremated and then pick up his cremains. She chose to have him cremated. We had never had a pet cremated before. We didn't know the process and we didn't know how long it would take or what kind of urn he would be in. He died Wednesday evening. On Friday they called and told us his cremains were ready for pickup. I've never in my life seen such professionalism. It was only about 36 hours from his death. Faithful Companions out of Charlotte was the company that picked him up. When Aaliyah was filling out the paper work she asked if his Cherokee name could be put on the urn. They said they had never had that request but they would do their best. Last Friday, when we picked him up we were overwhelmed by how beautiful the urn was and how beautiful the Cherokee syllabary was. They had written his name PERFECTLY. I don't even know how to express our gratitude to both of these companies. They have gone above and beyond to take care of Sdaya and to help Aaliyah with her grief. I'll never be able to thank them enough. This didn't end the way we wanted it to. We wanted him here. We wanted many more years of him bruising our legs as he leaned on us to protect us from the wind. We wanted to be able to see how great his puppy school training was when we took him to see Santa. We wanted all of that but it wasn't left in our hands. He will never be forgotten. Although these two companies could not take away our pain they helped us so so much. I'll never forget their kindness and generosity. Aaliyah sent both companies Edible Arrangements from us and Sdaya to say thank you. Thank you all for your continued prayers because we need it. Here's a picture of his beautiful urn and his footprint. It says Sdaya Swimmer beautifully and perfectly written in Cherokee Syllabary. Also a beautiful video of our boy. ❤️

My dog needed an emergency splenectomy and everyone at SAVES took amazing care of him (and us- we were a mess!) He is still healing and they are always available by call/text to answer my questions. I’m so glad my vet referred us and they fixed him up quickly! We are grateful whether we have another month or another year left with him in our lives!
