Used this place 3 times for animal emergencies in the past 3 years and 2 of 3 had to be put down (unless we paid 5-8 thousand) and the 2nd one (stools with blood) they tried to entice us into unnecessary surgery (said the dog needed jaw surgery); he still eats raw meat and bones to this day (2 years +). Not at all happy with these guys, but they are the only emergency vet place for miles, so we had another emergency and… It’s starting to look like the clinic of death to me. Told us today we HAD TO PUT our Missy down. Her first diagnosis was she had a broken rib, then all of a sudden an hour later, her O2 levels were dropping while in their care. They WOULD NOT let my wife take her home… said she had to be euthanized. She was 10 days away from giving birth. Lost them all by lethal injection. The clinic of death and profit. Don’t go here if you can avoid it by any means!! Oh yeah… btw… Each one of these failures cost us $1300-2200 dollars. 😡
i had to bring my rescue pit to EMEVC shortly after i got her (4 years ago). they did some tests and figured out she had a infection in her body somewhere. sent us home with antibiotics and my girl was back to herself a couple days later. i had to bring the same dog again yesterday (nov 23rd) due to very suddenly being in a lot of pain and barely being able to move her hind end without whining or screeching. we got to EMEVC at 12:30pm and didn’t leave till about 7:30pm, it was a loooong day and was definitely a wait but being an emergency vet open on the weekends you’ve gotta expect a wait when they have to attend to every other animal and person that’s there as well and they were very very full this day. they did a full blood panel, tested for lyme, did 3 radiographs, put her on an IV drip and gave her very good sedation/pain meds. everything came out good except for the radiographs showing shallow hips and her left hip not being as smooth as it should be. they came to the conclusion that she has arthritis in her hips and sent us home with 2 different pain meds, 1 having a sedative in it to help her relax. about an hour after she got home she woke up a bit more from all the sedatives she was given on top of the anesthesia. she started whining/heavy breathing every couple of minutes like she was in a lot of pain, i called again and told them what was going on and asked to email them a video of what she was doing and have them take a look at it. they did not hesitate one bit. i sent it and they called back within 3 minutes to tell me she is probably still loopy and in a bit of discomfort but she had already had her meds for the night. they told me what to look out for and to call back if i have anymore questions/concerns. it was a looong night as she was up whining every couple of minutes until i gave her more meds at 5am and the mild sedative seemed to of calmed her down. the help we received was amazing and everyone at EMEVC was super sweet! everything they did ended up being $1k so not to bad at all for being an emergency vet and for everything they gave her/did for her! THANK YOU, taeya and I appreciate you guys.
After waiting almost 5 hours for my dog to be seen, the veterinarian (Brian) called my husband and threatened not to treat her because of a 1 star review left due to wait time (which must've been due to them reading and relaying reviews in real time) and rude staff. He said we needed to delete the review and call to apologize. My husband told him we would delete the review and thought that would be the end of it. Once he got inside with the vet he was still not happy and had my husband call me so that he could get his apology. When I explained my stance and said I may have acted hastily and deleted the review, that was not good enough as it did not include an apology. (At this point with the way he treated my husband that was not going to happen) He then made a final decision to not treat my dog. We were not rude, did not yell or argue (until after he refused to help my dog) but in the end this vet is more focused on his ego than the well being of the animal and only showed concern for himself. She was forced to deal with an open wound until we could get to a vet the next day which we saved $500 anyways. Not to mention, we were charged $700 before any services were rendered and said this includes medication but legit told us they didn't know what medicine we were being charged for but they did refund us after the drama. If you have to drive a little further to have your pet seen, I highly recommend doing so. Do better.
The care from this veterinary clinic was extraordinary. They were willing to see my very sick old dog at midnight. Because he could not walk on shiny floors, they laid down carpet so he could walk to a room where he would cross the rainbow bridge. It had sofas, low lighting and a beautiful comfortable rug. They left us ample time to say goodbye to rockstar, one of the loves of our life. Then they came and administered the drugs, now at 1am, and were so compassionate and so kind. We were on holiday when he passed so we could not let him pass at home, or take his body with us to bury at home. I thought I would be distraught at the idea of leaving him in a strange place to be cremated. But they made it so I was not distraught. I knew they would care for him as wonderfully as I would. These people are stunning. Exceptional.
If i could give zero stars I would ! We rescued a German shepherd from out of state and after a few months we realized she became lethargic, and puking and when we went to emergency vet they did X-rays and said that it was just gas so they kept her overnight called us in the morning said she was good to come home ! So we went to go get my baby that day we brought her home she puked again so we went back and they did MORE X-rays said still looks like she had gas in there so they did more treatment and middle of the day when she wouldn’t get better the vet said that they would like to do a set of 12 X-rays with barium we said okay we will do whatever we need to do so they kept her all day and onto the next night I would call for updates and they said they were to busy finally when they called me it was 2am they mentioned as I am half asleep about surgery ! So we drove over there to see and hear what they were talking about . We get there and they said they think she needs surgery , I said what do you mean you think ? She said well the barium is moving so it a 70% she doesn’t need it. I said okay well your the doctor if you think she needs it we will do it , she said no I don’t think she will but we will keep her the rest of the night and see how she does they call me 7-8am Sunday morning to go get her I go get her bring her home and the middle of the night like 5-6am she started vomiting again so I called my husband who was at work and said that 8m when our vet opens im taking her because emergency vet isn’t doing right by her at all!! So 8am I am there I tell my vet everything we went through and they take her back do an xray and within seconds of looking at it knew she needed surgery ! I could visibily see the blockage myself and I am not vet and the barium wasn’t even through all the way !!!!!! When my vet showed me what was inside her it was so disintegrated it was inside her stomach way before we got her before we got her she was never inside a house never had dog food , didn’t know what dog toys were she was defending herself and would eat anything to service , rope and all .. having this before we rescued her and it was this bad they had to cut into her stomach and intestines three times. My dog went through hell and back and it seemed like they didn’t care about her at all but they cost us 10,000$ in the end ! So thank you brewer emergency vet … for nothing my happy spunky dog wasn’t herself and I was trying to tell you something was wrong and you wouldn’t listen
