Last night my wife and I had to bring our 13 year old cat in for an emergency. We knew he wasn't doing well and expected the worst. Every member of the staff that we interacted with was extremely polite and compassionate, which is exactly what you want when your family member is sick. Our veterinarian Taylor quickly assessed our fur baby Monk's condition and came to speak with us. It was, as we feared, but suspected, too severe to be treated. Instead of pushing us to spend thousands of dollars (which we would've if he could have bounced back to normal), she was straight forward about the nature of his condition and his unfortunate prognosis. We made the extremely painful (for us) decision to end our baby's suffering. We were allowed to stay with him through the entire process, and were given as much time as we needed to say goodbye, and grieve both before, and after the procedure. These people genuinely seem to care for the animals that are brought to them, and they handle emotional pet parents very compassionately. Nobody ever wants to need their services, but when you do, I assure you, this team is exactly who you want involved in your darkest hour. Another little thing that most other emergency vets don't have that was absolutely huge for us, they offer an alternate exit from the building. So if you've lost your loved one, you don't need to walk back out through the waiting room. There is a separate exit where you don't need to see or speak to another human being. I never knew how badly I needed that option, because it has never been an option anywhere else I've been in these scenarios. Thank you Bay State for making an extremely painful experience just a little bit more bearable. We hope to never need your services again, but if we do, it's comforting to know that you're there. We included a few photos of Monk from when he was happy and healthy because you only got to meet him at his worst moment. We thought you deserved to see some of his best. Thank you again for everything you do.

Though the answers I received were not what I was hoping for, I am so grateful for Bay State and their amazing, compassionate, knowledgeable staff. My sweet, 4yr old cat, Gala, had been misdiagnosed with asthma at a different Urgent Care facility less than 30hrs before I called Bay State (around 3am). I knew she did not have asthma, I just knew it. Bay State had me email them a video of Gala rather than rushing in, just in case it wasn't really an actual emergency, which I thought was great because ER visits can be pricey. They obviously were not looking to just make a buck. The kind woman called me back immediately and we chatted, made a plan for the morning but also discussed that I would & could bring Gala in anytime, if need be, which ended up being the case. I was met at the door and they brought Gala right in/out back and brought me to an exam room. The veterinarian that was working informed me that Gala was actually in heart failure 😞 They allowed me to spend all the alone time I needed with her before holding my sweet girl as she crossed the rainbow bridge. The vet said she knew right away by watching the video I had sent that she was most likely in heart failure. I am just glad I trusted my gut and brought Gala in when I did for a second opinion. Bay State has some exceptional staff and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for being so caring, gentle and honest with me🤍

I called afraid of my cat throwing up brown-black hair balls. It looked red when you opened up the vomit, perhaps a sign of internal bleeding. The receptionist was rude, not understanding that he had had surgery a week ago and I am worried about internal issues. She had no sense of humanity and care. She told me to call my vet tomorrow. When I said thank you, she simply hung up. Disgraceful. I hope no one had to engage with this rude person.

We recently brought our cat to Bay Stare Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Services for a radiation consult. The staff were great and very helpful getting us an appointment quickly. Dr. Ware was very compassionate and patient. He spent a lot of time answering all our questions about treatment options. The facility is brand new and we would highly recommend.

Great experience! I came here because my dog Chloe (14 years old) was gushing blood from her nose. She was taken in right away to check her vitals to make sure she was stable. We were there for about an hour and a half, as expected because they were busy, and were given updates by the staff every half hour or so. HUGE shoutout to Amanda she was super helpful! Although we still aren’t 100% sure what caused Chloe’s episode they made sure she was stable and helped talk us through what our options were moving forward. It’s really reassuring to know that this place is about a 15 minute drive from us. Thank you for helping my dog!!!
