Had to take my cat here the other night. I'll walk in a hot mess not knowing what was going on. They call me down I took the best care of him! I live on a very fixed income and they were able to help me figure out a way to pay my bill and I was able to bring my baby home that same night. They took such great care of him! The clinic is so clean! And the whole staff, everybody, or above reproach! So caring and so very kind! If I could give this 500 Stars I would!
My dog had sudden labored breathing, wasn’t moving much nor standing up at all she looked very distressed. There is no emergency vet in my area in southeast Tx so we drove here and they took her in immediately and tended to her. She stayed over night and by the next morning when I picked her up she was walking again! Staff was very friendly and compassionate!
Dr. Prince and his team were thorough and professional throughout our visit. They ensured we were well-informed about every step of our dog’s care and treated us with kindness and respect, answering any questions we had. We were truly impressed with the level of attention and expertise they provided. Our dog is doing great now, and we’re so grateful for the outstanding care we received. Highly recommend this clinic to anyone in need of emergency veterinary services!
Our pup Scout got bit by a snake on his nose. Unbeknownst to us as of the timing of this mishap. When we got home he was lathargic, and his entire nose, jaw back into his ears and neck was swelling. We rushed him to lake Charles to the Pet Emergency clinic , starting with Vet. Tech, TJ to Dr Prince treatment was top notch! Best pet urgent care around!!! They were absolutely amazing to us and Scout!!! Anti-venom was given along with fluids and overnight observation… He’s doing great!! Thank you for taking great care of our lil boy! On Christmas Night at about 7:00PM, My wife and I brought our 17 year old cat to the Pet Emergency Clinic in Lake Charles. He was in extreme discomfort, moaning, not moving much, and nauseated. The personnel in this clinic had to be some of the most uncompassionate, and non- caring people I have ever experienced in any animal clinic I have ever visited. They took my cat to the back room and did not allow us to be with him while they examined him. They then called us to an Exam room to discuss their findings and potential plan of action. While waiting in the exam room we were interrupted by the front desk clerk, and told that we needed to come up front and pay the Emergency Visit Fee of $135. They also insisted that they must scan my driver’s license before they could continue. I provided my driver’s license and asked if we could wait until the end of our visit and pay all of the charges at one time. The clerk said NO, I needed to pay this now before they could proceed. We then went back to the exam room and spoke to the Vet. She said she did not know what was going on with my cat and said the only way we could get any information was to perform a couple of bloodwork test. My wife and I agreed and consented to the tests. After agreeing to the bloodwork I was forced to review a treatment plan and sign a form saying that I agreed, Before they would proceed with the bloodwork. 20 minutes (and $200 later), we were called back to the Exam room again. This time the vet showed us the results of the bloodwork which showed my cat had elevated liver enzymes. I asked what could be the potential causes of this. Again I was given the “cold” answer. “WE DON’T KNOW”. Due to my Cats age, I asked what would be the next options. The vet said that they would need to keep him overnight and inject antibiotics via and IV, and because of his breathing issues, they would need to keep him under oxygen. Again I was being offered another treatment plan that was going to add to the ongoing tab already generated without any potential confidence from anyone that any of this was going to help. At this point we thought it would be best to go ahead and euthanize our little Tux. A tech then comes out and presents me with another form for me to sign with the cost associated with the euthanization process. Once again, we were told we needed to go to the front desk and pay in advance before this process could be initiated. By this point I am livid but agree because I did not want my little man to suffer. I know there are rule to follow, but what is considered professional or compassionate about the process I experienced. You go to the vet to receive an evaluation and information to make a decision as to what steps need to be taken. There was little-to-no information offered to us that could help us make this very critical and important decision. In appearance, it seems like all these people were concerned about was making sure they were compensated before they offered any kind of assistance. In appearance, they appeared that their proposed treatment plans were only being presented as a means of adding more money in their pockets rather than compassionately caring about the patient they were treating. One of the most insulting charges was a $59 dollar charge for (euthanasia – OWNER PRESENT). It appears I had to pay $59 to WATCH them put my cat down! $700 dollars later, we are leaving this clinic, devastated over the loss of our loved one, and the total lack of compassion and concern exhibited by these individuals. They are definitely taking advantage of hurting individuals to pad their pockets when no other options are available for treatment. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR TRUE COMPASSIONATE CARE FOR THEIR BELOVED PETS. I am open for a logical explanation from this clinic as to why this is the normal means of caring for their customers. I doubt however, that they will consider providing such based on the event I experienced on that night.
