Ten star service, knowledgeable efficient staff, amazing doctors, sanitized well ventilated barn and reasonable price. Brought horse with slice through the neck. Local vet had treated for a week but recommended LSU to make certain it was healing properly. Vet tech was waiting in 100 degree heat to unload horse (a great comfort after I-10). Dr. Mitchell showed me the wound and procedure in great detail, they removed stitches, cleaned wound, installed a new drain system, stapled the wound, gave detailed instructions for care, sold me the appropriate medicine and loaded horse up in good order. Their medical knowledge and communication skills are fantastic. I’m waiting on the culture results to see if an antibiotic change is needed. The barn is sanitized and well ventilated. It felt 15 degrees cooler. No one enters without sanitizing their boots. A real person answers the phone after one quick recording. Lastly, the price was reasonable. I heard it was the best care in the state but was hesitant to go there because I’ve heard it was way over-priced. Not so.
I never leave reviews good or bad but had to for LSU large animal clinic as they’re truly the best most compassionate vet I’ve experienced as well as being affordable! They’ve been so informative and friendly while learning to raise a healthy happy piglet. Every time I leave I have a sense of relief and confidence that my baby is getting the best care he could get. Big thanks to the kind and helpful students and Drs at LSU large animal clinic!🐖❤️
Our puppy, Pee Wee was having strange symptoms and seemed to be in pain so we headed to them from Mississippi since they’re our favorite Vets and one of the closest emergency clinics to us. Once we were about 30 mins out Pee Wee started getting visibly more stable but we still decided to make the rest of the drive to have another set of eyes and opinions on her. After explaining this to the three incredibly sweet ladies who came out in the cold wind and rain to help us tonight, they didn’t show the slightest bit of aggravation or frustration or try to push for us to get her seen. Instead they offered to look her over and let us know if she seemed okay enough to make it to her primary care vet in the morning (this is one of many visits in Pee Wee’s short 10 weeks of life as a rescue and it’s gotten quite expensive. We were of course willing to pay the emergency fee but only if it were truly necessary. We have 5 more of her litter back at home.) Huge thank you to LSU and the wonderful people they have over there. I don’t think it would be safe or appropriate in todays world to mention them by name but they know who they are and we are forever grateful for them.
I just had my Cookie euthanized at the LSU vet clinic after she gave me 21 years of unconditional love. The staff was truly amazing. They cared for her like she was theirs. Thank you!
Glad to find out you can't count on lsu vet school's ambulatory response services because they pick and choose who they respond to based on traffic. Thanks for refusing to come help my choking horse. And by the way everyone, if you aren't a regular ambulatory patient with vet school then they won't respond anyway (even if several of your horses are seen/cared for at lsu), or at least that's according to the doc/lady who ever she was told me! Thanks to the lack of concern, urgency, care, and basic human decency, I had to put a horse down.
