I have been to emergency CLINICS in Orlando with faster services for way cheaper and way better customer service. They did the X-rays as soon as I got into the clinic and surgery within the hour. Today I went in at 5am to the UF small vet HOSPITAL. I have been waiting for results it’s ten am now. They continue to say things like well now radiology is looking at the test- why is it taking over an hour for radiology to look at a test that has been done for over an hour? It looks like this is a cash cow. The vet jumped on surgery immediately without knowing much of any history of my pet. They sedated him without getting any intake information such as allergies from my pet. Overall poor services. Update 1/13/25 My dog passed away 6 weeks later 11/7/24. I took him to community care. He was misdiagnosed at UF vet. He most likely had a Neurological issue- either a large stroke or a tumor. When I asked the vet at UF upon discharge why was he falling on his side when he walked they said oh likely dehydration- I said I guess - it didn’t make sense to me bc I’ve never had issues with my dog being dehydrated but of course I didn’t question It bc they are the professionals right? But again they didn’t take info about WHO my dog was- they just asssumed he is brachiocephaloc older dog and that he was there due to respiratory issues. His respiratory issues were secondary. To update the visit at uf small animal vet - he was there for 3 days and what they kept saying is this is a teaching hospital and that’s why things are taking longer - wait- so it’s a teaching hospital and yet you misdiagnosed my dog ? You didn’t take a full history on my dogs health and who he is? Didn’t catch big signs like FALLING ON HIS SIDE ?! but also why am I paying for you to learn? That is not my responsibility. 3 days hospitalized ? My dog had never been hospitalized yet here he is being hospitalized. I don’t trust them not for one second. It’s scammy- lots of money going into these hospitals. The very least they could have done is told me the right info the right diagnosis and given me expert treatment for the amount of money (in the thousands) i paid. I had no idea my dog was suffering the last 6 weeks I had him. I am traumatized from having to see my dog in pain the last few hours of his life. He ended up in a coma. It was sudden for me since I thought the last visit to the vet was one and done. It really sucks for the animals here in Gainesville. I wasn’t too happy with community care either - they stuck me in a room while my dog was gasping for air without any ability to communicate with them on the outside. I had to run to get help while I was there for what I originally had came for EMERGENCY MEDICINE. I regret moving to Gainesville just for this reason - there is no great place to take your pets for emergency medicine. My dog passed away - may my sweet baby Capone rest in peace. I did everything I could to do well by him. If anyone needs any help learning how to take care of a bully let me know! My just shy of one month 11 year old dog was jumping up and down the day before he passed , on 0 medications, friendly, sweet, loving.

Amazing, kind, caring, brilliant people here. My squirrel had a brain injury from her first few months of life. I rescued and rehabed her. She began having seizures so she became my world for a year and a half. My Gracie had my whole heart. I brought her here for a cat scan and it was very bad. Heartbreakingly she did not come home with me. But, the staff here were absolutely wonderful. So kind to me. So gentle and sympathetic. They even sent me a card and the most beautiful little Gracie paw prints in clay. I am blown away by their kindness. In this terrible time of loss the gift they sent meant the world to me. They did everything they could to help her. And they have also helped me. I will never forget the kindness they’ve shown me. What a phenomenal place this is! Thank you all so very much 🙏🏻❤️🐿️

I have to say that I was very happy with the doctors and staff at this hospital. Our poor pup, Snoopy, started to exhibit neurological issues that affected his balance and ability hold himself. In the beginning he was unable to eat or even go outside and relieve himself. We were very concerned that we might lose our little boy, but they were able to stabilize him and we started the long road to recovery. Their advice after taking him home in what we should do and how to help him helped us and him immensely to recover back to about 95% movement of what he was able to do before all this started. We traveled 2.5 hours to get to this hospital because they were the only facility that could accommodate him immediately. I am glad we had to, because frankly I don't think he would have gotten better quicker care anyplace else. The facilities here are first class. The staff are considerate and professional. The moment we arrived they immediately took him since he was in very bad shape. I can say that anytime in the future we will use UF Small Animal Hospital for our dogs if there will be another serious issue. It is a long trip for us, but I think anyone will agree that such a trip is a small price to pay to ensure your loved pet receives first class urgent care. Well done UF Small Animal Hospital, keep up the great work.

Our cat went 24 hours without keeping food down so we took him in at 7:30 pm. The care our baby received was exceptional. The front desk staff was very sweet and Dr O’Neill was absolutely lovely. She truly treated him like her own and I felt fully comfortable knowing she was looking after him. They ended up keeping him over night for observation, but reassured me every step of the way and kept us updated up until he came back home. We are so grateful for their care!

I cannot thank UF Small Animal Hospital & Dr. Fisher enough! We brought our dog in Friday super sick and undiagnosed, within an hour they had figured out what was wrong with her and started treating her immediately. A few nights and belly rubs later she’s back home making a speedy recovery! 10/10 definitely recommend🙂
