My 13-year-old lab Maverick out of nowhere just lost use his back legs. We rushed him to Central and they came out with a stretcher as he was a big boy to come and get him. I was beside myself. My poor daughter raced from work to get there. within a matter of minutes, the doctor took us in a room and told us that Maverick‘s condition was very very serious in that moment I knew that this wasn’t gonna be good. She was kind but confident in her decision that we should let him go it came out of nowhere and I wasn’t prepared that morning to wake up and lose our boy. I don’t knowWhat happened and that’s haunting me but they gave him a nice meal and we were able to give him treats and love him and hug him and stay with him until he took his last breath. This was a horrible situation, but they were kind and caring. I just wish I knew what actually happened to him and why. I know he was in excruciating pain and I know he’s at peace. And someday we will get there. I am still devastated.

I've spent quite a lot of time at Central over the last year as my cat, Sloan, has decided she wants to test run every medical issue a cat can have all at once. We have used the ER (twice), the ICU (twice), and several of their specialists (ongoing). At this point, I may have met everyone in the building at least once, but I'll focus on those I've had the most interaction with. Dr. Kennedy has seen us twice now for ER evaluation. She has always explained thoroughly and clearly, and has always left me feeling like my cat is in the most competent of hands. Dr. Looney and Jill with the Rehab department are so kind and knowledgeable, and are focused on finding the best new normal for my girl, even though "perfect" may be out of reach. They brought back her joy and helped me make sure my cat was not only healthy, but happy. Last, but most importantly, Dr. Miller and team (Steph and Annie). Dr. Miller is absolutely the reason I still have Sloan. Twice now, his care has ensured she made a rather miraculous recovery when I was very sure I would lose her. He is always there with his best opinion, and you would struggle to find anyone more devoted to his patients. I have never had to question if he was on our team or if we would have help when we needed it. I could not possibly repay the kindness. Annie and Steph are invaluable angels who make it all work. And the front desk staff who quickly remember who I am and why I'm there, thank you for being so lovely. (I considered not embarrassing everyone, but oh well)

Though I rarely write Google reviews I felt compelled to share our experience with Central Hospital. We have used Pieper and West Hartford Emergency Vets in the past and didn’t even know about Central. Our 13 year old kitty Spooky was recently diagnosed with lymphoma out of the blue. I only took her to our personal vet that day bc my daughter who had been home for the weekend mentioned she seemed as though she lost weight. I did think she had been vomiting more than usual. I brought her home to discuss with the family the treatment options our vet provided. I called them Back later that evening and told them we had decided on palliative care where she would take steroids until she started to fail. Her failure basically began that night. She was listless and crying and obviously in pain. We called West Hartford and Piper to see if they could provide some comfort until we went to see our vet the next day. They both said they were overbooked. I was beside myself and found Central online. They told us to come immediately. They were professional and urgent. They brought her straight to intensive care and immediately asked us what type of lifesaving options we wanted to utilize. The staff were caring and treated Spooky with utmost urgency and efficiency. The doctor who we met with was caring and had lovely bedside manner. I’m sorry I didn’t catch her name. Myself, husband and son were very emotional. She explained that Spooky was bleeding internally from the cancer and we could do blood transfusions if desired but they may not work miracles as her blood volume was so low and her organs were failing. Spooky was brought into the visitation room for us to see her. She was cozy under heated blankets and was being given fluids and oxygen. She was no longer crying. We were able to say goodbye to her with my daughters on FaceTime before she crossed the rainbow bridge. Everyone on staff was very consoling and caring. In response to those that were disappointed with their service I would point out that I am not an expert in veterinary care or end of life care for animals. I know the staff at Central are experts and would trust them again in a heartbeat. We are so grateful for their availability, demeanor, care and professionalism.

Our experience has been amazing at Central! Our little boy was in with IVDD symptoms, so we dealt mainly with the neurology department and they have been so kind and compassionate front start to finish. We ended up having to go through with surgery and everything went so smoothly and our boy is ahead of the game with recovery. We want to say a special thank you to Liz, Monica, Vicky, and Dr. Cohen. Liz has answered every call and question I’ve had along the way (there were a lot). Monica has been so kind and helpful with every visit and going home care. Vicky helped with his physical therapy and oxygen chamber treatments that helped him heal so much. Dr. Cohen is very knowledgeable and informative. He made us comfortable with every decision we made throughout this entire process. Everyone has explained everything in a way for us to understand. We are so happy we chose to have them take such good care of our boy and don’t know if we’d have such a positive outcome and experience if we’d gone anywhere else. Thank you to everyone!

I can not say enough good things about Central Hospital. I had an emergency with my dog Libby Sunday and had no clue what was wrong. She ended up needing stitches. I went in and they were the most kind and compassionate people ever. They got my dog right in, and took care of her. While she was in surgery I was at the store looking for pet food to accomodate her during recovery and they stayed on the phone with me reccomending what to buy. In addition I went in expecting to pay several thousand dollars compared to what I heard emergeny vets charge. I prepaid what they estimated services would cost. Which was around half of what I was expecting to pay. In addition when I ended up picking the dog up it turns out they ended up crediting me back some of the money I pre paid. So i can not reccomend this place enough.
