It makes me sad to give this review because my husband & I are very fair & give reviews for great service too. I read the nice reviews about Dr Summers which makes us even more sad and shocked because we wish we had that experience with her. Not sure if we got caught her on a bad day but we didn’t get the blessing of a great experience with Dr Summer which made it even worse. We have used Sac Valley Vet before 3 years ago & had a compassionate experience so we thought we would have the same experience on one of the most difficult days again. We have recommended Sac Valley Vet to so many of our friends after our first experience 3 years ago. Dr Summers wasn’t really rude, but seemed irritated & not compassionate with us. She was not empathetic which was surprising for her line of work. As I have stated previously, I read the other reviews so I am not sure if we got her on a bad day which is still not acceptable & more upsetting to know that she was nice to others. She was short with her responses. When she was answering questions I had, she seemed irritated when I asked for clarification because I couldn’t understand her the first time because she was talking too fast. Since she is a doctor, I wanted to ask her a question and show her a video of what my dog was doing right before she got there and she quickly dismissed it and didn’t even want to look. She said abruptly “I don’t know because I don’t know your dog’s vocals.” Our dog was not a vocal dog and the video of her screaming was something new in her dying process so I was just looking from some insight from a caring doctor in case she has seen it before. I guess that wasn’t something I could ask as she was only there to do the euthanasia part only. She didn’t care to address my concern as I was crying. Even if she watched the video and didn’t know the answer, that would have been ok. At least it would have shown that she cared. She told us we could take as much time as we need before & after but seeing her sit there all irritated & waiting made us feel rushed. The bad energy and vibes Dr Summers was giving off did not make us feel good. This is already heartbreaking and expensive so it was very disappointing & hurtful to make this memory even worse in our precious pup’s last moments. My sister arrived shortly after & she also noticed the horrible experience & said the person we had 3 years ago was way better. We tried to give our pup her last meal to enjoy before getting started with the end of life process and instead of asking us first, Dr Summers said she was going to go ahead and just give our dog the sedation meds now while she was distracted and started cleaning our dog’s leg to inject the meds. She didn’t even ask if we were ok with that first or give us a chance to respond as the needle was pretty much ready to go in. I quickly asked my husband if he was ok with that. He felt forced to agree since Dr Summers had the needle ready to go in & was going to do it regardless, hence rushing us when she told us we could take our time. She said it would take 5-10 min for sedation to kick in but our pup was already tired and the meds kicked in faster making it hard for her to finish her last meal. Very inconsiderate & disrespectful of our wishes. She shouldn’t tell us we could take our time & then do the opposite. I asked if we could have more time before the second med ends her life & she said abruptly “yeah of course” but Dr Summers sat there giving off bad energy & irritation. She didn’t seem compassionate or empathetic. It made us very uncomfortable. It didn’t feel like she was really giving us the time we needed so we just said she can go ahead & do it. We are very disappointed with our experience with Dr Summers. Hopefully she won’t do that to others. My review is probably the only negative one that was willing to take time to post. We are trying to remember the last moments of my dog & the comfort we gave her but all we can think about is the precious moments taken away & horrible experience with Dr Summers. Good Luck to others.
We have used Dr. Summers' service twice now. She is very kind and does an amazing job helping your pet pass on peacefully. I couldn't recommend her enough and will use her services again if needed.
This month we had to put our sweet 16yo baby girl to sleep. It was the worst day of my young adult daughter's life, and she was not sure whether or not she could handle being there for the euthanasia. Several companies were recommended by our vet, so we called down the list, and SVVS was the only place we called with an opening that day. The woman who answered the phone in the office was so sweet and empathetic, and Dr. Summers made the experience as painless as it could possibly be. We are so grateful that we did not feel rushed saying goodbye, and my daughter was so glad she was there until the very end.
Yesterday I had to say goodbye to four legged baby that I had the pleasure of being with for 13 years 2 weeks and 3 days. My friend who has blessed my family (parents, sisters and their wife and children) eitt with 10 more babies. To say my girl was loved and a valued member of our family is an understatement. The vet I go to normally is wonderful, I sing their praises, even in this post I want to thank Broadway Veterinary Clinic because when we knew this was the inevitable they recommended looking for someone to do in home euthanasia as they thought it would be best for me and my girl. I'm glad I made the decision to use Dr. Summers. I'm sure the job she's chosen to bare is tough not only because she is putting animals down but because she has to see grief stricken family. The initial texts were very to the point which made me nervous but when she got to my home she was so kind. She reassured me, which I desperately needed since my girl had been running through tricks just before. She let me give my sweet Honey girl yummy treats as she was sedating her so Honey was not anxious at all then let me hold her as she gave the injection to stop her heart. What I truly appreciated was her willingness to help me with something commemorative I wanted to do after Honeys passing but most importantly the way honey was transported down to the truck after she was gone. This was a huge fear for me. My sister had watched her animals be placed in body bags and I dressed that. Dr, Summers provided us with a stretcher that was more like a blanket with handles which I appreciated. It was more like my pup was wrapped in a blanket than some cold body bag. Dr. Summers I told you thank you for providing this service yesterday, but one thing I will remember from this experience was you complimenting Honey's size snd telling me how you tell people "Get a lab!" And if they say they want a small dog you say "Get a little lab" If you're reading this and you're faced with this terrible moment in life, my heart breaks with yours, it still won't be easy but this is a choice I will one day (hopefully many years from now) make again and I would recommend Dr. Summers.
7/15/24 had to have our furbaby helped over that Rainbow bridge at home. It's never easy saying goodbye to a family member. SVVS & Dr. LENNON, called the morning of her in home visit, sent text closer to her ETA. When the arrived spent as much time to make my family & her patient feel her honest empathy & showed her true caring for all. We did our research on pricing and it was a good price for our beloved Kuuipo to make sure she knew we were with her, holding her paws as she got her wings. For anyone having to go through this I highly recommend SVVS & Dr. LENNON 5+ stars.
