If I could leave zero stars, I would. We were traveling and brought our sick Ellie to them on a Friday night. Our dog had developed a huge lump on her throat in 24 hours and was extremely weak. This place WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR HER! NOTHING but send us home telling us to make an appointment with our regular vet. Saturday was spent on the phone trying to get her into a vet. Finally, 4Paws said to bring her in Sunday morning. By then, Ellie couldn't walk, wasn't eating or drinking. 4Paws did emergency surgery on her neck. The lump was now the size of a softball. It was an infection. They had her on an IV with antibiotics. 4Paws made a call to VTA on Harris rd. and took Ellie in, but it was too late, Ellie died. If this place had treated her and drained the pus and started her on antibiotics right then, Ellie would still be here. We will NEVER take another pet to this place ever again! That's not my opinion, that's the opinion of the vets that treated her.
I am so thankful for this vet hospital, I brought my little dog in an emergency, called ahead of time due to accidental poisoning. They immediately took her in, assessed her, and developed a treatment plan. They were honest about the potential outcomes to allow me to make the best decision, nonjudgmental, and empathetic. Of course it was expensive (emergency care is), but they were able to save my baby Tillie and she has returned to normal. I could tell they genuinely cared, not just about my dog but me as well. They offered me water and coffee while I waited for lab results, were happy to give updates whenever I called, and even issued a refund at the end when the total expenses were less than the deposit paid. I would definitely come here again (I just hope we don’t need to!). The only disadvantage is they don’t appear to offer their own payment plans, but they do have information about how to apply for credit elsewhere.
To start on the positives the Vet Tech we saw upon initially coming in was very kind and empathetic to our situation she let us know it'd be a 2 hour wait and so we hung around for the 2 hours for the Veterinatian to be done with surgery. We were very grateful that they did what they did for the money we did have The problem comes from the overall cost compared to the actual price of medical supplies medications and services being too different. $200 for the initial appointment $200 for his side to be shaved and for 2 medications that total out to $40 (including shipping and handling) and a quote of $2000 to perform stitches on his side. This was WITH the mercy and discounts of the vet... Go to Allen Road Vet Hospital the initial visit was $50 surgery and suture removal was $690 and this was during Christmas Holidays while every other vet was closed. Most of the people we met in the waiting room had gone to the same vet initially and all had the same experience with exorbant costs for treatment. I understand that medical equipment is expensive and the vet needs to charge for services but frankly it's clear when a Veterinarian has stopped doing what they do for the animals and is now just doing it for profits sake.... I am grateful for the discounts they gave because the $400 was everything we had crowd funded but frankly having to beg strangers for well over $1000 was humiliating and not even necessary, $300 of that would have gone into surgery costs at Allen Road and here it just went nowhere. People taking their pets to ER and Urgent Care vets are desperate and panicking and usually don't know where else to turn and it feels so predatory to be charging so much more than the actual cost of care to save your baby. Especially when they are SO judgemental that you didn't just have $200 sitting in your pocket ready to go during CHRISTMAS and it took a few hours to get the funds together and get into the clinic. It was not only commented in front of me but I also overheard multiple staff members saying "it took them four hours to bring him in 😑😒😒" in an extremely judgemental tone of voice as if that was my fault and not the fault of their exorbant costs for veterinary care. This rubbed me the wrong way and therefore those are my reasons for not providing the other 3 stars. Best of luck to you and your pets guys ❤
On July 6th, my family and I were traveling through the valley from SoCal when my English bulldog suffered a heat stroke. This urgent care clinic was the closest to our location. When we arrived, the staff saw us on camera getting our dog out of the car, and they came running to help. He was on the table with and had machines hooked up to him in minutes. Dr Ratliff and Laura were absolutely amazing! They were so patient and extremely professional. There was no hesitation on saving our dog. I owe this clinic everything! There is no doubt in my mind that they saved our dog. Words can't truly express how grateful my family is for everything you did for Phoenix. Thank you so much!
Do not bring your animal here. If you can avoid it. This is a colossal waste of time. The doctors are ridiculously unprofessional. They swore at me. I arrived at about 3:30 p.m., and they made me wait until 9:00 before seeing my animal. Everyone in the waiting room was a walk-in. And everybody got seen before my animal. It was $189 to sit in their lobby. They make you feel guilty about not being able to pay the price they want. My dog has a sore muscle and they wanted $900 for x-rays and blood work. No thank you. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT COME HERE... if you can avoid it.
