Reviews
Never in my life, have I felt the need to write a bad review. Today (11/24/23), we went in as first time customers to get my 3 year old Golden Retriever a haircut. Our dog was quite nervous, so he was barking a lot. When describing what haircut to give, we asked for a short haircut, and I said specifically said no shaving him. Low and behold when we picked him up they shaved his whole body down to around a quarter of an inch. We were absolutely mortified with his haircut. We went into the business to ask for a refund, and they flatly refused. They said that we asked for a "puppy cut" (which we never said) and they refused to listen to what we said. I specifically told them not to shave him, and they responded afterwards that I never said that, and that they gave us what we asked. How can a pet groomer not know to never shave a golden retriever? I'm so worried that his coat will grow back ruined from the shave. If they were unqualified we would have gladly taken our dog somewhere else. The haircut was absolutely terrible, and the service was somehow even worse. It makes me so mad how nonchalant they were about our complaints and distress. I would never recommend this groomer, but I warn you to especially stay away if you have a double coated dog. (Before and after pictures below). Response to the owner: We requested that we not pay because the service that was provided wasn't even bad, it was destructive. Our dog was shaven without our consent, and shaving a golden is the absolute worst thing that can be done to a golden's coat. We became upset because not only is our dog's coat permanently altered, but the owner refused to accept that she did anything wrong and pinned the blame on us. She refused to even acknowledge our concerns to the point where we obviously became mad. We feel that we should not have to pay for our dog's heinous haircut and the appalling customer service, if I could rewind time, I would have never stepped foot into robin's pet grooming. With your response, we already know how irresponsible of a groomer you are.
I brought my English cream golden retriever (Bentley) in and requested they trim his hair and specifically said DO NOT shave. When I picked up my dog I come to find they’ve shaved him, claiming I told them to give a “puppy cut” when I did no such thing. I do not know what a “puppy cut” is and even if I did, my dog is 4 years old, not a puppy. On the inside of his legs, they’ve shaved him to the skin. They shaved everything but his head and tail, similar to how you would shave a poodle. Shaving a golden retriever is not healthy for them because it not only causes their fur to grow back uneven, but it severely increases skin cancer risks in dogs that are already prone to cancer. You would think a groomer would have basic knowledge regarding how different dog breeds should be cut and what to avoid. If they do not know how to trim the dog, they should notify the owner so they can take the dog elsewhere. When I asked for a refund on the $122 cut, the owner made me wait 15 minutes to speak to her then proceeded to call the cops to remove me for trespassing, without even speaking with me for 15 seconds. She did not let me point out the shaved to the skin parts of my dog, she did not let me tell her the health consequences, she had the audacity to lie and claim that we asked for him to be shaved. It is a poor representation of a business to treat a customer like a criminal without showing any compassion towards their situation and especially towards the pet. I feel completely and utterly wronged by the owner and the fact that she will not admit to the mistake made or refund the charge. I will not be taking Bentley back to this groomer and I recommend that anybody who does not have a poodle mix dog should not go there. I added a picture of my dog before and after the cut. Response to owner: I will repeat what I've already said, I do not know what a puppy cut is and did not ask for one, I asked for a trim. Your continued blatant lie regarding my request for Bentley's grooming is unbelievable. You are expressing that I did not want to pay, but that is simply not true. I would happily pay if you did what I requested of you, but I requested a refund because I refuse to pay for the harming of my dog. If you wish to discuss money, will you pay for the coat our dog needs now that he no longer has his fur to keep him warm? Will you pay for any changes to his fur growth? Will you pay for any health conditions that arise from the shave? If not, the least you can do is apologize. As someone who services pets, I would wish you had compassion and sympathy for the well being of dogs like you claim to have, but it has been proven more than clear that you did not care for my pet in this situation. In fact, your disregard gives the appearance that you are purely interested in the money, not the wellbeing of the pet. My comments to you are not fake accounts. My dog is loved by many people in the neighborhood when we walk him and his sudden change in appearance has shocked everyone who sees him. They asked what groomer we took him to that would shave a golden retriever, so we told them, no lies. They chose to comment regarding it when they see the unfair and cruel response you have given me. Considering you apparently do not realize what you did is wrong and are not apologetic in the slightest, I have no words for you, except to say I pray that you learn from this situation and proceed to educate yourself and your employees on the health of dogs and what you shouldn't do as a groomer so no other pet experiences this.
Not sure what is going on with this business, but we have called multiple times, left a voicemail each time, and no one ever calls back. We tried to establish a relationship with this grooming service based on proximity to our home, but now I'd rather go out of my way and patronize a Groomer who cares more about customer service. We have 2 pups and routinely groom them monthly so I guess money lost for this business. Recommend, having a consistent process in place to listen to messages and return calls.
Best groomers around. They love and take care of the pets they groom. When our two old dogs passed away they sent condolence cards with stories about how the dogs would act when they visited. When we moved away they wrote up grooming instructions to the cats and dog for the new groomers. Always professional and wonderful we love Robin's Pet Grooming. We will miss you.
I rescued a Norwegian Timber cat, his coat was in bad shape. Robin's welcomed us and Moe was good and he is a fantastic friend!
