I live in Hendersonville and usually shopped at the Arden PetSmart, simply because of the larger variety of choices, especially for my parrot and smaller species of pets different from a cat or dog. Hendo store didn't carry any parrot or exotic pet bird supplies until fairly recently. I always find good deals on cat food and litter, especially, and either store is good for those. I still shop in Arden for my bird supplies and toys and I think I have gotten to know several employees pretty well, and they know me. Kelly, one of the managers there, is especially helpful and friendly, and if your coupon won't work for some reason, or need an honest recommendation on a product, she doesn't hesitate to work things out in her customer's favor. The staff are equally helpful. The Hendo store, on the other hand, seems to have a much more frequent employee turnover rate, not that the staff isn't friendly nor helpful there, I just don't get familiar with them, nor do they me, very easily. So I really prefer to drive out to Arden when I need lots of supplies, which is usually 1-2 times per month. I have to for my bird, although the Hendo store has added a small section of exotic bird supplies. Both are affordable and friendly, Arden has the size advantage, and I think the employee advantage as well. Just my opinion.
Came in with my dog who has been to pet smart on numerous occasions for a nail clipping. Another tech overheard our conversation about our girl limping due to her nails being too long and inserted herself into the situation…this ill informed tech told us petsmart won’t allow injured dogs in for service because of liability. Um hello our dog is not injured her nails are too long. Do a quick search online and you’ll find numerous respected sources which verify that a dog can limp because of nails that are too long. So we wasted 90 minutes this morning due to this tech trying to play boss…
They sold me an injured bird and blamed it on me. Never going here again in my life. I hope they realize how bad they treat their animals. This place is awful. Shouldn’t be in business
I keep having issues with my Topfin tanks. The most recent one that I have. I’m missing a piece in my kit but didn’t notice till I already set up my tank. Customer service said they would give me 5 dollars off since this is missing a piece. I bought a whole essentials kit why should I have to pay out of pocket for a whole new filter and lights when they were missing from the kit. Worst customer service won’t be buying any of my tanks from PetSmart anymore.
The staff here have always been very friendly. It seems like it takes them a long time to restock certain popular cat treats, but that could be due to the supply chain issues that have been ongoing since the pandemic. The variety of products in most categories is extensive. They have deals that are comparable to Chewy, Amazon, and Walmart so the prices are competitive. The sales they regularly have make many of the cat related items I buy cheaper than competitors. They also have plenty of shopping carts and parking is easy. They have a groomer, a vet, and they rotate out cats for adoption almost weekly. I have never seen it get particularly busy/crowded and the one time I saw a checkout line they cleared it quickly. It’s not as fantastic as some smaller locally owned pet stores, so I’m not inclined to give it five stars, but I’ll give it four because I’ve enjoyed my experience here more than other big box pet supply stores.
