We feel so lucky to have found Rick and Ciao, they are top notch groomers. They are always very kind and friendly to us and treat our dogs so well; they always leave happier than when we brought them in! I feel comfortable and confident leaving my dogs in their care, and I appreciate their dedication to private grooming. Not to mention they always send us the cutest photos of our pups!! Highly recommend if you’re in the market for a high quality, experienced groomer.

I am not one to ever write bad reviews- especially for a small business. I wanted to like this place so badly, but I had a horrible experience. My groomer was on maternity leave, so I had someone suggest mod dog and I booked an appointment. A few minutes after arriving my dog had an accident in the waiting area. I was already mortified and embarrassed and the gentleman was rude to me about it and was only worried about his rug getting dirty. You own a dog grooming business, you’re going to run into dogs having accidents. I was very apologetic and polite I brought my dog outside and came back in and discussed what we wanted done to him. He told me “my dog looked weird” with his hair cut low on top of his head. And after I proceeded to tell him I liked it that way, he still was pushing for a poofy poodle look, which I don’t want as I have a labradoodle, not a show poodle. When I left, I had never seen my dog so scared, and he enjoys going to his other groomer. When I arrived at pick up time, the groomer said he had 4 more accidents and they have to give him a few baths and blow drys and they don’t have time for the cut. I totally understand this, and it’s unlike my dog to have accidents like that. I said no worries, I will pay for the services you did, which was a bath, blow dry, and nail trim. It was to my surprise it was $90 for those three services. He didn’t explain the pricing to me at all and completely ignored me after the next client came in and I paid. I have never paid more than $65 dollars for a grooming service especially not even getting a cut. I would not recommend this place to anyone. My dog has been sacred and sad since he’s got home and they completely scam you with pricing.

The owner is amazing & took care of my elderly golden in a very efficient amount of time without sacrificing any of the pampering! I highly recommend checking your fur baby into the mad dog spa!

It is with a heavy heart that I write this bad review. After COVID, Mod Dog Spa was the second place that my dog got into. Rick did a better job than the previous groomer. I am particular in how I want my sweet Emme’s Havanese face to look so Most every time that I picked her up, I need to ask for further cutting. When I asked Rick if I was the only one to do that, he confirmed, much to my chagrin. I did not ask one time and I went home and cut it myself. I was firmly told not to do that again. I was so surprised at being chastised that I didn’t respond with, “Hey, she is MY dog and I am the friggin’ paying customer here!!!” Grrr... The end to Emme being groomed by Rick was when I came back an hour after I dropped her off, but she was not done. Since there is a window there, I watched Rick about to start cutting the hair on her face. Rick stopped, came out and told me, “Never do that again!” I was confused, “Do what?” “Watch me through the window. It makes me nervous.” Ummm, a few thoughts: (1) Don’t have a window into the grooming area. (2) Put up a polite note on the window requesting that a Dog Owner’s not watch. (3) Come out and ask me to stop, then finish her grooming. Instead, I believe that he did not finish Emme’s groom since he didn’t want us to come back? Regardless, we will not be. I found a place in Falmouth that groomed her face the next day and only for $5 plus the $20 tip. So that one groom cost me a total of $125. I rebooked at the same place. I called Rick to tell him that we couldn’t come to our next appointment. All he said was, “Okay.” The new place cost significantly less, takes longer, but her groom was perfect! I don’t like writing a bad review, but Come On, Rick, treat your customers with respect and kindness. If you have a problem, talk to your customer about what isn’t working. I am unimpressed.

My 9 month old Golden had an absolutely positive experience this morning at Mod Dog Spa. Rick did a wonderful job on him. It was a great visit and already booked for next month. Thanks Mod Dog Spa!
