It is hard to find good local fish stores in Maine but pet pro is amazing. What I really like about them is that not only is their owner passionate about freshwater aquarium fish, but the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. I love all the local fish stores in Maine, but the depth of knowledge of the staff as well as the owner is unusual. In my experience. I have had great success with very hard to raise fish with this store even though I live 2 hours away from the store. I just bought a lot of fish to restock my tank and all of them, due to the careful packaging of the fish and the understanding of the staff, made it made it to my house. House. It's not at all uncommon for fish to not be able to handle that long of a travel time. They gave me extra water, extra air and a box to make sure that I could keep them as comfortable as possible on the long trip home. I'm slowly acclimating them in their bags from the store to my quarantine tank. I've never had an experience of having every single fish make it through the travel process. I'm used to losing one or two fish due to stress during transportation. This store really goes the extra mile.

I’ve been a long time supporter of this store and travel an hour to come make purchases as it’s been my favorite pet shop. I’m pretty upset as I made two trips to have my water tested because a Hillstream loach didn’t make it in my tank, mind you my other catfish made a perfect transition and my other Hillstream loaches are also perfectly fine. I’ve never needed to ask for a refund here. Both times my ph was slightly high. I understand that that has meaning but my Hillstream loach had sure signs of them fighting. These are my favorite fish and I will continue to buy them but not from here. I wish they had been more understanding. I've been going to Petco for months unknowing that there is an even better aquarium supply store closer to me. The fish are all healthy, happy and well taken care of. I get the feeling that the owner tried every single product before he actually placed them on his shelves for sale, and that speaks a lot about a business. I've spent probably close to $500 there in the past few weeks and will be glad to do so again soon!

Great selection of happy and healthy fish! I love that they readily carry spider wood and other aquarium drift wood. The sales team is wonderful and always happy to help and answer questions. I have never had issues with fish purchased from here, they’re always happy and healthy!

Two new guys added. Super excited. We've bought about a dozen fish from here so far and everything has been great. I will someday have a saltwater tank, until then I love admiring the fish there
