Prince Benji 2 Dog Grooming

I contemplated writing a review, but I don’t want the same experience to happen to someone else. I have been to prince Benjis hampden location a few times and had nothing but positive experiences. I was excited when they opened their Towson location as it was closer to me. I have interacted with Q every time and the first few times getting my dogs groomed, I had a positive experience. A few months ago my husband dropped our dogs off for a grooming and instructed Q to call me if anything needed to be done with them. Q contacted me that she felt one of my dogs needed to be shaved due to his matted fur. I am a veterinarian and I didn’t feel they needed to be shaved, especially as they are doubled coated dogs, but I trusted Q’s judgement as one of my dogs does have coarser hair. An hour later she calls me to tell me my other dog also needed to be shaved. I told her I did not want this to happen to my second dog, and she proceeded to tell me that she had already started. My dogs hair had completely grown back and last week they needed another grooming. I decided to trust Q as I stated above she has done a great job in the past. When I dropped them off Q started feeling their coats and told me my one dog didn’t need to be shaved and I proceeded to tell her I didn’t want either of them to be shaved this time. She felt my coarser hair dog and said she felt he needed to be shaved and I explicitly told her I didn’t want either of them to be shaved. She said we could compromise and try a deep conditioning to see if the matts could come out and I approved. My husband went to pick up the dogs and was very upset as both dogs were shaved and my request was completely ignored. When asked, Q proceeded to say she knows what is best for the dogs and did what she felt was best for them and that their coat was in “rough” condition. Meanwhile I’ve had my dogs for 8+ years and no groomer has ever recommended they be shaved before. As a veterinarian, there are many things I feel are best for my patients, but if a client declines I cannot proceed. I am very disappointed in the way this was handled. Clear instructions were given and ignored and if Q felt they needed these services, and without it she didn’t feel comfortable proceeding, then she should have relayed this to me and I would have taken my dogs elsewhere. Instead, she proceeded to do what she wanted; extremely unprofessional. I will no longer be returning or recommending this groomer. I have included a picture of one of my dogs before and after the grooming as she has clearly been shaved when my directions were very clear to not shave them.

Couldn't be happier with my first experience at Prince Benji 2. Got my dog in on very short notice and offered a very reasonable price compared to what I'd been paying at another groomer. Staff showers the animals with care and were very welcoming. Nyxie and I will be back with our business here from now on.

Q is AMAZING!! I am a first time customer and will absolutely be returning!! My German shepherd was shedding horribly. I could vacuum in the morning and it looked like fur ball city by the afternoon. I also brushed her constantly with no reprieve. When I picked her up, my expectations were hopeful, but let me tell you, she looks like a different dog!! I am so impressed. Not only does she look great, but she smells so good and I can tell she feels better and is so happy!! Highly recommended!! The first picture is before and the three after the fur are post Q!! Q does a great job grooming my aussiedoodle! Professional, courteous, and great price. My dog and I were happy she got a bandana to complete her new look. Thanks again, Q!

Took my Charlie here and just wow! They gave him the perfect hair cut and the length is exactly what I wanted. He looks soo clean and fresh. The experience was great and everyone is super friendly, the price is affordable and very much reasonable. The biggest bonus is they took care of his fragile ears. We will be back for sure!! 💕🐾🐾
