Melly's Clip-N-Dip

I went on vacation for Thanksgiving and picked up my pup yesterday. I have been using Mellys to board my dog for the last year or so. I normally get him groomed while he’s there. They wait to groom him on the last day so that he’s fresh when I pick him up. This time, I had shaved him myself so I didn’t need grooming. When I picked him up, he felt dirty but I didn’t think anything of it. I had been driving for 7 hours and was ready to get home so I put him in the van and went on my way. I got home and noticed his legs and belly were yellow and realized it was pee. I bathed him and the water was yellow. I was so upset and decided to wait till the next day to call so that I could calm down and politely address my concerns instead of being in my feelings. I spoke with Melly the next day and told her what happened. She said that he shouldn’t have went home like that. She offered a free groom and stated that they let the dogs out at 9am and 4pm. I told her I wasn’t looking for anything free and that I wanted to address my concerns. Taking a dog out to potty twice a day is not enough. A minimum of 3 times should be the procedure (which is what I thought it was). Having a dog hold it from 4pm-9am is too long. He is potty trained at home and I’m sure being in a boarding facility is stressful and may cause accidents, but to be covered in pee makes me believe that he was laying in his own pee for a long time. Again, while she did try to rectify the situation with a free grooming, I don’t feel, from our conversation, that the actual situation will be improved. I say that because when I told a couple of family members, they had similar stories with the SAME concern. I won’t be bringing my dog back.

Our puppy is not a fan of grooming. But the groomer at Melly's got him to sit still well enough to do a great job. I also asked for them to brush his teeth, they found out that he had some food stuck in between his puppy canines and his adult canines that were coming in and solved his horrendous breath problem!! Thanks y'all! And Wicket thanks y'all too!

Called ahead and dropped our two dogs off for baths/grooming, honestly probably the best grooming my dog has ever had, she's still soft and smelling good days later, will definitely be back!

I brought my older, blind dog here after he had been turned away by another, "corporate chain" groomer. The staff here was great, very reassuring and obviously competent. My dog did did great with their groomer and the groomer did a great job on the cut. I will certainly be using them again! Sometimes it just takes a little time to get familiar with the animal to make that bond and the staff here at Mellys are willing to take that extra step!
