I took my one-eyed Shih Tzu, Blinky, in for his first grooming since he rescued me 9 weeks ago. I had bathed him twice but he was matted beyond what I could handle. I was referred to The Groom Room by my neighbor who also has a rescue. They did a great job and I will certainly rely upon them in the future.
Great local business. I love this place and my dog does too. Every time I take him he comes home happy and fluffy and smelling fantastic. I need to make time to take him regularly.
Our dogs Coco the Shih Tzu and Lolo the Chihuahua love it here and we do too! Pricing is reasonable and about average for the area. Only thing that I dislike is it’s cash or check only. There is an Atm next door at the Speedway station, if you forget your dough.
I’ve been going here since I moved to Louisville from Dallas. Each time they slowly became worse and worse. They never followed any of the directions I gave, even though it was written down. Today I dropped of my dog for a trim around the butt belly and paws, that’s it. And they handed me her like this. The woman who cut her said well that’s what you asked for. Which was NOT true the woman I spoke with in the morning wrote down exactly what I wanted. The woman who cut my dog didn’t even look at the card they write the directions on. Don’t go there unless you want your dog scalped. My dog is a reflection of me, as she travels with me as a service dog. The first photo is right before she was dropped off, then they scalped her. She’s cold and her skin now is irritated.
Absolute nightmare. I dropped off my cairn terrier at 8:30 AM to the Groom Room. I asked for a tidy up and said he must not be shaved. I called the Groom Room around 1 PM, and he had been bathed but not cut yet. I called back around 3:30 PM and he was "just about to get on the table, would be done in about an hour." When I arrived at 5:20 PM -- 10 minutes until their closing time -- I could see he was still on the table being groomed. They called me at 5:30 PM to say he was ready to be picked up, and again, I could see from where I was parked that he was still on their table being finished up. I told them I was already there. He was not ready until 5:40 PM. I paid before I could really see him and wish I hadn't -- he had been almost entirely shaved, and where he was trimmed with scissors, was left hacked away unevenly. The two groomers Michelle and Chelsea said that they had never groomed a cairn terrier before, that they were "two dummies" trying to look "at the book" and at videos online, that they did their best, and hoped he looked okay. I almost started crying when I saw him. Dogs with double coats need to have their double coat to protect them from the sun and to help them properly heat themselves/cool off. I explained that he was NOT supposed to be shaved because of his double coat and they said that they don't think they groomed down far enough to damage it. They said they were told to trim him, and that the services they rendered were a "trim." I would have 100% much rather that they called to tell me earlier on in the day to say they couldn't groom him, or to ask questions about how I wanted him groomed, and instead I have a dog who spent all day inside a cage -- who was bursting at the seams to go to the bathroom when we got out -- who was hurriedly groomed by two people who were not sure how to take care of his breed. I am furious. When they asked me if he looked alright I could only say that it's not like they could take it back now, now that his hair had already been shaved off. I will NEVER go back to this place and hope that his coat grows back correctly, which may have been permanently ruined by their actions -- one shave of a double coated dog can be all it takes. Please go to a groomer that takes your dog out during the day, gives access to water, and doesn't just try to fake it until they make it.
