This is not a review I want to leave, but I feel VCA Asher deserves it. Last week, my 18 year old yorkie let me know it was time. He was my world, and by my side for 18 years, but I wouldn't spend a minute watching him suffer. We went to VCA Asher and while it was the most difficult thing I've ever done in my life, they were absolutely amazing. They were so good, and so sweet, and so gentle and gave me all the time I needed. They helped me understand all the options and made the process for after easy as well for cremation. It was one of the worst days of my life, but they did everything possible to make it less stressful. I truly appreciate everyone there, from the bottom of my heart.
What a wonderful facility at all levels! We were able to get an emergency appmt. for our cat. Dr. Sam Gibbs was compassionate and informative re: treatment. His diagnosis was expeditious but heart-breaking. He graciously stayed w/ us through the whole painful ordeal. Such a wonderful provider! We had a professional and humane experience.
I brought my French bulldog Chanel in for evaluation on Monday 8/26/24. I was seen by Dr. Gibbs. I explained that my dog had jumped and landed wrong and since then she was putting minimal weight on her hind legs. He “assessed“ her and told me she had a “80-90% chance of recovery with meds and strict crate rest for 2 weeks.” He did no other diagnostic, no imaging, etc. When I inquired about imaging, he stated that an MRI would “cost around $6000 at UC DAVIS” and if my dog had IVDD, “it won’t show up on an X-ray.” I went home and my dog’s symptoms worsened. When I reached back out that same evening I was told this was due to the pain injection that was given. The next day, Tuesday 8/27/24 my dog was still in pain. I chose to go to VCA care hospital on lake Blvd for a second opinion. This time an xray was taken. My dog had actually sustained a broken back and needs emergent surgery as her injury is putting pressure on her spinal cord. (A hemilaminectomy) She will have to be seen in UC DAVIS or SOUTHERN OREGON for emergent surgery. All I can say is advocate for your animals, get a second opinion, and make sure the provider seeing your pet is thorough in their assessment. Over confidence from a physician/veterinarian/etc.,in any facet in healthcare can be dangerous and result in a delay in care which is what I experienced first hand.
Was very grateful VCA Asher, Redding Ca created a space for me to bring in my dog on July 3. All clinics were closing early, but they got me in at 3pm and I only called at noon on the same day. As it turned out, dog had a rotten tooth that had broken off, but not entirely. The staff was warm and friendly and treated us as if we were life long patients. Dr. Lucy, what a treasure. I can not recommend this clinic enough. To top everything off, I got an unexpected ‘Golden Discount’ because of my age. If you haven’t been there, please I highly recommend you give them a try. Tell them Linda and Boyd sent you!❤️
Always feels like home, even when I find myself there in a pickle. The dedicated and compassionate team have saved the day and saved lives of my fur babies on more occasions than I care to add up, but I love knowing that they are there and highly capable should I ever need them! Thank you all for the amazing work you do! 💕🤩
